Solution—Gear blanks for winch manufacturer
A large winch manufacturer was using static castings for their gear product, but routinely found shrinkage and porosity in the casting after machining was started. MetalTek suggested and implemented a change to provide the product from continuous cast bar stock. The product was more homogeneous than a static casting, windows were added to reduce weight, and there was no need to produce or maintain a pattern.
